Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

world cup 2026 seems like it lost a lot momentum

with Iran declaring that they will not participate and who know how many more team will pull out if war gets out of control.
With only 2 months to go for opening match, based on what I hear from hospitality sources is that there is no momentum or excitement, here in Los Angeles.
Can't say for NY or Miami.

As far as for Nike that is big supplier of soccer product, could be a good news or bad news

It could be a bad news since Nike may not get bang for their ad dollar spent.
It could be a good news for Nike since they have not have anything prepared for the upcoming event.
It is like you did not study for the final but you found that final got cancelled for bo-b threat.... LOL

The cost of attending WC games in the US prohibitive for most of the the fans, especially the international audience. The US hosting the event is ki-ling the enthusiasm of international fans due to costs, difficulty traveling to US, unfriendly border control, etc. The game ticket costs alone are 20x-100x higher than what they were in Qatar. I predict many stadiums will be half empty especially in the group stage.
