There is absolutely no reason to go above and beyond.
If you want more money, switch jobs.
If you want more time and freedom, quiet quit.
Cisco seems to be unable to distinguish between overachievers and people who put in 10 hour weeks by clicking the right buttons at the right times.
Whats the point of taking on more than you can get away with ?

Most jobs at Cisco are just paycheck justification.
Ciscos wfh culture is unmatched anywhere else
@fq Not everyone’s first language is English. What other languages do YOU speak and write? Note, English is spelled with a capital “E”, so maybe you need lessons too.
I busted at Cisco to maintain the right mindset to keep busting at the next job, just as I had at every job. I did great work at small companies, made great bank at large companies and while I gave up a a few decades my life and my time are now all mine.
@c7 i guess that works if you have no bigger goal in your own life outside of working for a gigacorp
eventually, everyone at Cisco realizes it is a bad place to be a "striver"
you will not be rewarded, you will simply subsidize slackers like me
For myself and stay competitive.

How to be a good Cisco worker:
- Blow up your teammates to do your job for you. Never do anything yourself or learn what you were there to do.
- Blame and cultivate a hostile culture while doing it behind the guise of a smile and handshake.
- Invite your friend from overseas to join in on the fun.
- Say useless sh-t in WebEx spaces to look important and act like you're contributing.
- Watch competent coworkers lose their mind working here.
The brownnosers who "heart" everything posted by a leader and have to post every AI thought that comes to them while they're taking a cr-p just infuriate me.
