I wish they would land on a criteria and stick to for more than a year or two. Must be trying to get rid of some NRE folks. More headcount reductions to come...

I’m so sick of this world. The elite class has no accountability even they commit crimes. The average Joe can have his life ruined by some stupid pip system.
@bb whatever ways to mess with DW, I’m in. These f*ers
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being against unions, but supporting unionization efforts just to mess with the company.
So how could it happen? What would the unionization process for EMPTs at the Houston campus look like? Is it possible? How does it start?
@b2 "Imagine this scenario" I'm living this scenario. But to be honest, I am fortunate enough that I can leave whenever I want. I'm seriously just sticking around for the fun it! Its a crazy place but not going to let it affect me.
@b1 there are several that come to mind who really should be shown the door.
The early 50s can be challenging, with many factors such as health shifts, children moving on, and parents needing care. It’s a season of transition that isn’t always visible, but it’s deeply felt.
That’s why this change is disappointing. It’s a moment where support matters most, and inow it’s being withdrawn. Thanks, ExxonMobil.
Also, to the gloating 30-somethings, I wouldn’t be celebrating if I were you. A lot of managers will cycle their NRE ranks into lower categories just to spare the rest of the team, knowing nothing of consequence will come due to the protection.
Now they have to choose between a 54-year-old still adding value today and a 30-year-old hotshot who might someday be good. And if they have any integrity, it may as well be the arrogant hotshot who gets axed.
I can't believe the "2 pips and you're out" rule would be legals in countries with strong employment laws. The Netherlands and Belgium spring to mind.
Imagine this scenario. You get PIP’d, then work hard to pass it. Bring up your ranking the next 3 years. Think you’re in a good spot. Then in year 5 some manager says, “we need to cut headcount, find anyone that’s been PIP’d once in the last 4 years and we’ll knock them out this year with a PIP.” All the hard work wasted. Just another lever for the company to pull when they want to accelerate the headcount reductions.
Finally. The lazy b-ms hiding behing their NRE designation will now be held accountable. GOOD!
@OP i stand corrected, I am wrong. Just read the email sent out to everyone now.
"helped to retirement". Is this some kind of euthanasia?
Continually adding more we-pons to the PA arsenal…
I wonder how Copilot would review that message compared to the core values?
Abhorrent and disrespectful perhaps?
"we want to be in a league of our own" except for we want to pay you at the midpoint of a group of mildly related peer companies.
I really wish they would skip the platitudes in emails like this and just deliver their bad news. It’s insulting.
I genuinely hate this place. Just when I think they can’t go lower, they do.
HR is the spawn of Satan who sits in the backroom counting their dollars whilst bodies leave the doors. They despise living beings and see them as a burden on their beloved cash cow. They would f---- cheap cookers and sell dr-gs if it were to up their profits
@am the email literally says the opposite. There is no more DPC and NRE will be pipped directly. NRE status is now removed to ensure everyone equally accountable
Why is there so much misinformation about NRE distinction being removed? It is clearly stated in the policy documents online and easily searchable today that NRE exists and you can be put on a DPC as NRE rather then a PIP to support getting to retirement. Lots of reasonable concerns posted on this site, but enough of blatant misinformation.
@af just Supervisors, the comment directly below is a good summary
Great motivation to look elsewhere
Was there an email about this? Or did is just go to supervisors?
@OP So just to get everyone on the same page here - they got rid of the NRE distinction and you can get put on a PIP directly no matter what your age is. Also, you used to have to get a PIP three times in five years to get fired but it has been reduced to two times for everyone.
Motivated yet? Feeling valued?
Anyone got a lawyer or have some case study references? Feels like this could get ugly. Know a guy that was purged last year after lower contributions since he had a bunch of chemo. He lawyered up, outcome tbd.
