Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

TRowe is a frustrating place to work

It is, without question, the most toxic corporate culture I have ever experienced. people spend their entire day pretending to be busy, yet no one actually values high-quality work or individual contributions.
The biggest bottleneck is the "management" layer. Need to clear out these stagnant leaders who have been sitting in their positions for far too long. They have become comfortable, out of touch, and resistant to any modernizing influence. They don't manage; they just occupy space and block progress.
OP: @17e+1kmn211dn

We all know this, but it's worth repeating.

Feel free to transfer to my department where we lost many of our team members and work like dogs all day and into the weekend regularly

Get out while you can. Any of your managers that are left are under NDA and are getting a guaranteed payout to lie to your face and make your life miserable. Life is better outside of the toxic culture they have created. Move your money out of all of their funds as well if you have been there for a long time. Hit them where it hurts. They are prepping to sell or merge.

@qv I’ve seen RMs straight up lying to prospects about the products they are pitching in order to meet the client’s mandate. There is no accountability whatsoever.

@qs Try all but one of the members in a particular channel sales team in a OUS spot having no previous sales experience. Like everyone bar one are client service/relations people with no dedicated prior sales experience. The other “sales” team is a dud too.

@hk it’s pretty sad how many so called sales managers have zero sales experience. Most of them don’t even have advanced certifications. All that speaks to the lack of accountability and poor judgement.

@g1 @g1 Yep. My manager made his decision who to choose based on "vibe". After all, he didn't want to miss out on the Fantasy Football league they are in every Fall.

Too many incompetent managers. And because the managers themselves are incompetent, they can’t even properly judge who’s actually good at their job and who isn’t. Only the most obvious, surface-level results get rewarded. Actual ability and doing the right thing are ignored. The rest is all politics. These useless managers can’t even figure out who should be let go, and now it’s pure chaos. There are still smart employees here, but the number of clueless ones has grown. It’s becoming an increasingly uncomfortable place for the talented people to stay

@OP Yep another week of misery. Hang in there everyone. Lean on your faith and your families/friends. There are a lot of great people among the rank and file T Rowe - sadly unless you have known someone for a while there you can't assume you can trust anyone anymore. I thought my boss had my back - I was wrong. Prioritize your mental health and get those resumes out. Upskill. Network. I have only survived this long because I try and work remote as much as I can - perhaps too much. But that office environment is just miserable. I have been to funerals that were more cheerful. I don't know about everyone else, but I find the offices disgusting. It is like they clean the entire building with the same wet rag that only gets washed a couple of times a year. Everything has a gross film on it. Hang in there.
