Nielsen has always run on fear. Intimidation is standard. And the PIP is their favorite tool. You have to leave your dignity at the door to work here.

My dude. PIP's are used at EVERY company as a way to warn you that you're on the way out. It's not to intimidate you, it's to give you a heads up that your days are numbered and you should be looking for the exit on your own terms as soon as you can.

None of the new leaders that replaced previous Data Science leaders have a clue about media or measurement. Most of the leaders were only hired because they knew Anil or someone else at Amazon, not for their competence. They can’t provide any clear guidance or direction, other than constantly barking orders and expecting stuff to get done overnight. Trying to replace methodologies and platforms that took years to research and develop, without any understanding of the requirements or scope involved while constantly cutting headcount doesn’t achieve anything. If they have successfully done something, then it’s basically reducing the quality of our deliveries and the morale of people across the company.

Did not feel fearful in my experience, had been at Nielsen for a few years. Agree on dignity part for the Current phase. It is the combination of arrogant ignorant leadership and then having groups like mentioned in the echo chamber post. For example the so called head of AI is clueless when it comes to measurement, but even worse not even a leader or expert in AI itself. Remember a LinkedIn exec and a hyped seminar they had organized, aA was being like oh my God wow to everything, even basic no brainer ai stuff . Then there's been similar hiring, so the new resource pools are of the same structure, with a few old which remain not making any noise and just being agreeable to the new lot. In the pretext of "it happens everywhere though", this lot will make money and escape.
