Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm already over it

This is my first job, I've been here for ten months, and I'm already over it all. Between toxic work atmosphere, managers who're nothing more than bullies, and constant worries about layoffs, how are people able to do this for 40 years of their lives, some even more???

There was a time when the phone company was a great place to work for. No more. Find another job. Do not waste your life at AT&T. There is zero vision, zero innovation, and zero care for their employees. Jump ship as soon as you can. There are tons of other companies out there that are far better places to work. Just leave.

Don’t bother worrying about a long term career (10+ years) here or anywhere else in this country. If you came for the experience, take that knowledge and information plus any and all educational opportunities and move on in 3-4 years. If you came for the money, save it and move on in 4-5 years. Rinse and repeat. You have options; never, ever give your life to a company. The sooner workers in America understand how to work the system to their advantage, the better off they will be. You are dispensable; never forget that fact.

AT&T isn't loyal to the workers, but the workers best be loyal to AT&T!

Our leadership says “there is no loyalty” and now they CRY that no one is participating or watching town halls.

And they can’t understand why!

Their egos have made them delusional.

Go back to your parents basement. Thanks for the stares and nonexistent contributions. You’re useless.

“No way I would stay for longer than it takes to establish some experience.”
A lengthy tenure @ AT&T makes you persona non grata in the tech community.

From a 40 yr vet. When I started, if you stayed away from the 3Cs, showed up, and did your job, you had a job for life. You could feed your family, send your kids to college, and retire with a pension and retiree medical that was zero monthly premium, zero deductible, and 100% coverage. You wouldn’t get rich, but you would do well. And of course you had pride in your work. You worked 16 hr days, slept on a cot in a tent, and ate MREs to restore service after Katrina and Sandy.

Now? No way I would stay for longer than it takes to establish some experience. No way I am doing anything above and beyond for our current set of clowns running this ship. They want market based employment, that is precisely what they will get.

AT&T is simply coasting on it's reputation.

It used to be a good company.

It used to be a good job.

When management is telling you it's a five-year role, take them seriously.

Make some money and look for the next job. Cause, you won't do 40 here like folks did in the past.
