Manager asking customer to replace me

I was informed by my customer before the holidays that my manager has called twice to see if they would like to switch from a dedicated FTE US position with a service position that can be managed by off-shore.

Has anyone else heard the same thing?

I agree with the earlier post. You better start looking and jump ship in 2023! Your days are numbered. Best you jump before they cut you.

My customer had my name written into the contract that they had to keep me. That's the only reason me and a handful of onshore FTEs are still around.

If my superior asked a customer if they'd be okay switching, that means they need me on a more critical project for whatever reason. You get the A team to make the sale and give the client warm fuzzies, the C team to keep things running, maybe for decades and the D team in India when you can't squeeze any more money out of them except for a customer service agreement that you agree to give them at discount.

I'm a little surprised they even asked the customer - seen a lot of cases where they just did it anyway, even when they knew it was not allowed through contract or for regulatory reasons - with the plan being to just deal with the consequences later
