Yep. 20 years with various companies bought up by Optum. Most experience and highest paid physician at my site. Replaced by an APC
@ft you must be new to the company because these layoffs started during the last administration. These have been going on for over three years now. Before you say it, no,I’m not a fan of the current president. I’m a fan of speaking facts.
@a2 so was I just hit 20 years and over 50. Built half
Of the stuff they use. Doing the work of 3 employees and never getting recognized. Now imagine being in your lay off meeting, get
Your review a raise and a bonus. Also, fighting Lyme, health care company laying off someone who desperately needs the healthcare?? Sounds about right.
Told to reach goals so this so that we support you. But don’t get too far up the chain or too old, they have no use for you!
@s2 haven’t been let go just behavior I’m seeing
@a2 Just because they let you go doesn't mean they are targeting older workers
@OP No. Not anywhere I've seen at all.
Yes, let me know if there’s a class action lawsuit I can join.
@as this Post is 100% correct.
@OP no. Haven't seen that anywhere.
@az no severance if you quit. A goal of theirs I'm sure.
@es The time to decide was during elections. If your son or daughter is in the military already, you won't have much of a choice. That's the unfortunate part. We are here now and we all have to ride it out together.
@bf Did you vote the the administration that's currently contributing to the layoffs?
@eh I did and I do have a case. But you are fighting an entity with much deeper pockets. So nice try - you are clearly from leadership and/or offshore.
Offshore - how long do you really think the currency peg will last with the Iran war? Do you really think the US population is so weak that we will send our sons/daughters to protect corporate assets in your region while those same corporations layoff their parents and themselves…..and refuse to hire them.
Document everything and if you feel you are being harassed or targeted due to age and experience report it and get a lawyer.
Tactic used on me was good reviews but no work. Only work I received was busy work. It was demeaning and isolating. I am certified in Python & Databricks (AI/wkfkw) AND passed both the AIE/CAIS certifications - a bit more robust than AI Dojo ;-). No one cared….
Too old and too American - if my ethnicity was different I suspect I would have been promoted…..but this is what ALL corporations want. Feel sorry for future American generations, at least I got a few good years in, they have no chance.
@a8 make you uncomfortable so you leave or quit, or fired do something small, or paid out
Yes I’ve seen them do it different ways. But the common denominator was that they all had 20+ years in.
@as
Yes, but the topic was 'alternative to layoffs'. Targeting individuals with subtle(or not so subtle) harassment methods implies that they want people to leave 'voluntarily'.
I think my whole team is over the age of 40. That means we're safe, right? Right???
For every layoff anyone who is impacted over the age of 40 receives a list of the impacted positions and the age of the person impacted. This is to show that the company is not being age discriminatory during the layoffs. If the list had the majority of roles eliminated by people over 40 it would open up the company to legal claims.
@a2
Could you elaborate on methods used? I'm wondering if I might be experiencing the same thing ... or am I imagining it? I assume they would use basically the same playbook.
Yep. I was one of them over 50 with 20+ years.
