New degree of micro-managing for Fab and out of fab roles

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the degree of micro-managing for Fab and out of fab roles? CWW techs (fab and ROC), engs, OMs, SGLs - anyone in CWW working schedule.

Is this a new form of power abuse? The complaints are running rampant and I’m utterly shocked at the backwards decisions making for the manufacturing group. Nothing about working here is attractive anymore…

How did micromanaging become so engrained at Intel?

  1. engineers have tendency to think they have all the answers and need to be broken of that bad habit before they are promoted to management.
  1. managers who want to show they are 'adding value' or trying to keep the team from screwing up, won't fully delegate and trust their people.
  1. In uncertain times, managers who add no value want to be seen as adding value.
  1. Intel culture of 'constructive confrontation' has been warped into a strange distorted and disfunctional version of its former self. Now, nobody delegates and trusts people to do their job -- instead everything thinks they have a valid right to opine about duties that are not part of their job. This is a tremendous waste of time and energy.
  1. Too many layers of management reinforces the desire to micro manage below. These higher level managers understand they don't add value and they have so much extra time on their hands what else would they do.

Have I got it right?

Micro-management is just one of the core TMG behaviors that spread like a cancer throughout the rest of the company during BK's disastrous regime and completely destroyed the original engineering-driven Intel culture, transforming into some sort of corrupt master/slave driven mentality.

I reckon many areas of the Fab require it to be honest.
I see many different depts/mods were the work rates (& discipline) are vastly disproportionate.
Not saying every one should meet the work rate of the highest work rates level mods are they are running at burn out levels of stress due to unaddressed HC issues and other inadequate management issues.
But a balancing across the job role descriptions and reality should most definitely be compared.

Oh, you mean not taking enough micro-pauses, WPB's? Or, been taking those, but computer use too high? (during work hours) We used to call this a good work ethic. It seems as if management is putting many of us in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Hasn't micro managing always been one of TMG's core values?
