A thread to discuss the DP town hall and observations:

This is going to ruffle a few feathers - but what in the actual fu-k is going on with DP’s hair? Is it sprayed on and the can was running low? Is he letting it fall out or grow? It raises the question on whether or not he can make a decision and stick to it.
We're all going to get DP'ed. Thats a guarantee.
@b7 makes sense to people blinded by greed. Send all jobs over there, illegals and Indians given jobs here. Pretty soon no one will be able to buy their cr-ppy products.
@b7 wait until the DOD and privileged clients find out one of the most corrupt countries has their data. That’s not a security risk at all, right?
@a1 any word on any more rounds?
AI stands for All Indians.
This is the future they are choosing.
Cost savings is in, Americans are out.
Doesnt matter how American the company is, shareholders and the board will maximize the bottomline.
@a1 Crocodile tears
What I understood from the townhall
Pat is a story teller...
Just like the contracting companies like CGI, Tata and how they bring their own people only, the leadership seems to bring their own rather than talent - look around;
The AI (aka offshoring IT) will continue for unforeseeable future, unless the regulators intervene (write to your representatives in Congress)
No one seems to have a clear strategy other than let's do what we can and call it off, no long term plan...as someone here said "loot the company" once hollowed move on to the next.
@a7 it feels that way ... softball questions ... I'm waiting for what is your favorite flavor of ice cream.
Is the Q&A scripted just like the All Team townhall?
These guys are just looting the company so they can give the jobs to their homeland and are using AI to try and cover the knowledge and skill gap. Once it is hollowed out and out IT is 95% offshore and the company is falling apart, they will bail and move onto another company. This town hall is not going me confidence in anything but knowing the grass is greener elsewhere. But at least DP acknowledges the layoffs, amirite?
AI is overhyped, yes we need to incorporate AI to everyday design of software engineering work, but I would like to hear the cost? every time I try to request access to this LLM they request budget code, department code and start charging - how does that work- how is this saving us.. just from a confused developer trying to adopt AI
I can't stand the AI. I realize there are pros and cons to everything but my own personal revolt - even in a small way - is I've noticed the last several times I've had to call in for whatever reason, our phone IVR is now able to 'recognize natural voice'. Right.....
I demand to speak to a person (it takes at least 3 times of the IVR pretending they've transferred you to a real person when you've gone nowhere until you finally get a live person).
My team and I were talking about this yesterday how frustrating this is for us, let alone our customers and clients trying to get assistance.
I don't know where this company is going long-term, but I'm getting the huge message that I am dispensable.
10+ years ago, Cigna was rated one of the top ten employers. It's not that way anymore sadly.
I used to believe I mattered.
I now realize in the last few years that I am just a number.
Brian is bean counter. They don’t have souls
At least he acknowledged about the people he let go and decisions made, unlike Brian who seems to be proud of the JE's.
The question is will he survive this boat?
I’m glad he was able to address and recognize there were layoffs
