Heard about BCC from Sourcing town hall. Is this 3M saying they will hire and replace in these cheap labor markets? Is this the strategy, hire in OUS and EXPECT US government contracts and customers to ignore? Celebrating US250 this year, shouldn’t this be highlighted and treated accordingly? Maybe I don’t know 3M history well yet, but seems like a giant finger to US and its workers while trying to hide it and simply say they are global.

@at It's not even hidden anymore. Legal announced they were laying off about a dozen US patent assistants and transferring their work to the Global Legal Service Center in India. And the US patent assistants can apply for 4 positions that will train and oversee the GLSC work. Why are they making them apply instead of 4 of then just being selected? Because it will be a lower level position for lower pay. So 3M Legal is not officially demoting anyone, but that is effectively what's happening. I expect to see more of this.
@a1 BB demonstrates the contradiction between bosses and servants. The servants must be of the lowest pay grade without hope for promotion or even service dinners. Meanwhile the bosses get unduly paid millions. There are a lot of other execs who would gladly do what BB is doing for a lot less than his 20 million.
3M will be split into more pieces with BB buddies put in charge of the severed limbs. At least the Smurf didnt get to stay around and fatten his coffers.
The guidance I've received (as a JG15 manager) is that my people shouldn't be doing any of the activities of work.
We're supposed to provide oversight and guidance to the low-level OUS employees. Basically just babysitters.
The quiet part that isn't being said out loud is that once the cheap OUS people can do the work without much guidance we can just cut the expensive Americans to save a few bucks.
Exec playbook is spin, divest, partner with venture capitalist that specializes in startups and high risk financing, and juicing the stock while breaking the company apart. They only have cost cutting strategies now. The only thing truly global is hearing loss and poisoned water. Get out if you have a lot of working years in front of you.
