Thread regarding United States Layoffs layoffs

Epic Lays Off More Than 1,000 Staff

Epic Games is laying off over 1,000 employees. This decision follows a downturn in Fortnite engagement since 2025. The company is spending significantly more than it is making. These cuts, along with $500 million in cost savings, aim for stability. Impacted employees will receive severance, healthcare, and accelerated stock options.

So now we now we know why they raised the vbucks and changed the battle pass etc upsetting everyone in their userbase. They wanted to create a narrative to blame the layoffs on that they were planning on doing. They are changing their development and business paradigm from a dedicated team of epic developers on a variety of epic game modes (which they are now shutting down) to paying uefn creators and possibly supplementing with ai. They will ultimately blame users for not supporting them.
