Nothing ki-ls motivation faster than knowing your every move is being scrutinized. I'm spending more time documenting what I'm doing than actually doing it. I've noticed that many folks have started checking boxes instead of solving problems which ensures few things actually get done. What's with the sudden pivot to micromanaging? Or is this my area only?

this company su-ks, as reflected in the stock price! it is run by a bunch of woke re--rds that know nothing about sales! They target high earners because they make too much money, instead of trying to figure out how to grow more of them. mgmt has reduced the commission plan by 66% in the last 2 years and they still could not beat earnings! I would be surprised if they were still in business in 5 years!
@zt I watched as one department in particular pushed out almost everyone over 50. Still shocked we haven’t been sued for age discrimination. It’s been pretty blatant.
If you are older, keep your head down and your career options open.
@a3 was in a conversation where one of the Directors was actually encouraging us to push out older workers.
CDW is ruthless and will never be the company we use to be. Recently we sent a very tenured female coworker overseas to train some of the co-workers that are replacing CDW USA coworkers, and then several weeks later they let her go!!!!

@OP about 35% of you will be replaced by AI in the next three years. Most of those people will be subjugated to micromanagement between now and then. The ones who will survive will be the ones who do the right things no matter what their expert manager tells them to do.
I have seeing it! The micromanaging, even to the point on making us feel like we should not be using our unlimited PTO. Watching the way we word things and telling us how to word conversations. Keeping us busy with work that gets us no where! Our opinions no longer matter.
I noticed you have to be extremely guarded with governance folks. They are given insane amounts of spying capabilites without regard to personal defects like for example being angry frustrated females. Watch out for yourselves and lower expecfation of professional courtesy and you will be safe.
1/2 the communications are now being written by AI. It’s so obvious. Please don’t make me read anymore of your stupid AI documents or emails that your chaterbator wrote in 8 seconds, the one that you didn’t bother to proofread, that I have to now spend 10 minutes trying to decipher while the clock is ticking on my own tasks. Yes you, manager and grand pubah.

Sometimes micromanagement occurs due to a possible layoff.
If you're not doing what's asked (even if it's useless like they had people duplicating SPS info into SF for forecasting) and updating opps etc...they can build a case to force you out once your performance dips. HR is not your friend and they'll use whatever info they collect, against you to avoid paying unemployment or severence.
Anything but focus on the main issues.
Also could be your manager is cr-p and his/her bosses are trying to do the same to them if thier team is underperforming.
