If the company is serious about saving on cost, big if, but if they are, there many EMG who should be let go.

But instead, they’ll reduce the amount of worker bees, and the ones who stay will be doing the jobs of 3-4 people.

@dv some EMG are slackers? They are failed rejects from real banks who failed up here at USAA. My last AVP is now a project manager 2 at wells hahaha. Another ED is now a business analyst 1. They aren’t qualified. We promote failures who don’t know enough to know they are facilitating money laundering, fraud and violations of the law. Instead they will create orgs that will run in circles to make power points. And to do oversight of those PowerPoints. Then create controls and governance of those PowerPoints. Quickly we have 40 people distracting and doing anything but banking.

It’s a feature not a bug.

@hk well it seems like we are intentionally cutting off our limbs and binging McDonalds. I’m on a team of 8. Not a single person on my team applied to be in this job or role. Not a single person is remotely qualified to do this work. 2.5 years ago I was on a team with a director who had a doctorate and passionate - they laid him off - kept the tool bag director who is confused by vpn and right clicking.

There are always good people that get hit by layoffs but our member contact folks would not BELIEVE the number of highly paid adult daycare jobs that exist at USAA

Covid and the WFH culture made it really bad

They’d be furious if they knew because they’re always working so hard and under strict conditions

You’re going to see a lot of that fat get trimmed and some healthy tissue along with it

I dunno man, I've been here 15 years now and the two people on my team who were recently laid off were the people who literally did not do anything.

I'm talking having a single story up on the board in progress for 6 months kind of lazy. So at least in some departments we have to be doing something right
