Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

should I stay or should I go now?

with the state of affairs, and the state of the job market in IT in general, if you had a job offer for a similar salary, less but close, less benefits, hard to match the swoosh, would you take it, or hold out at the swoosh for the 'promise' of long term employment for the extra 20k+ per year, maybe 30k if staying, but of course high risk.

that might be a d-mb question, I think anyone reading this just laughed?

@ac bwahahha Nike's interviews and assessments are a joke. So easy, but I wouldn't hire anymore than 1 or 2 etws that have worked for me. Those guys are even worse than the ftes

Sometimes it’s better to go with The Devil you know versus The Devil you don’t know.

So, holdout until the severance package while actively looking and prioritizing your own mental health. You have your own situation. But It worked for me.

For a similar position to what I'm in now, the salary was 20% lower, the bonus was 75% lower, there was no RSUs. There is also no guarantee that changing companies is going to make you any less prone to getting laid off, and in some cases more likely as a lot of times companies lay off recent hires first. Thanks to the rotten diaper filler, the economy is going down the sh----r for anyone not already a billionaire.

@ac long time fte, tried applying for years to other positions, was a no go, burnt out, and in position had and, still has, the carrot in front of me. Gets real old after 7-8 years, waiting around to be or not to be cut is too stressful, best just pull the trigger and re-orient, it's remote by the way

If you are actually working for Nike and not a vendor like Cognizant or related. You should look for another role but if you are a ETW I recommend applying to a position on Nikes website as Nike will not just hand you a position they need to assess your skills in the interview process.

As long as it was close and livable, I'd leave.

I would quit Nike and take any other job. Even for less money.

I'd leave. Nike is not the brand it was. Specifically if you are not customer facing. 95% of products made overseas now so why have so many people here? Simple math
