You have better bargain power for salary with your next employer if you apply outside now while you are in the current job. Not after getting layed off.

That’s not how it works
Doesn’t give any leverage because there are 10 of you already in the market taking way less. The American people have lost leverage. Not to mention jobs to other countries. Why are we not banning together to get better treatment like in Germany, Romania. Etc? I think knots time we start looking at this seriously.
