It's Saturday and all I can think about is layoffs. And it's been like this for months. I hate Oracle for this. I used to be able to enjoy life. A job shouldn't take that away from me, but here we are.

@e8 I've wondered why do octogenarian billionaires always want more? I suppose they are wired differently than us mere mortals.
Same as what one of the other people here said... There's life after Oracle. I was there off and on for years. It was the most stressful place I've ever worked. I made some great friends but others I worked with were pretty awful. And at the end of the day it was all to make one very rich man even richer, and it will never ever be enough for that man. Best of luck to you all. But you deserve better.

OP, maybe you are in the wrong line of work. Tech pays well but it can demanding and unstable. Maybe you should be looking for a more mundane line of work. Expect to get paid less for the lower challenge level but it might be worth it to you for the peace of mind.
Life after Oracle is beautiful. I went thru countless RIFs and was laid off in 2 of them. I was told to pick a job in another org and they’d make it happen. I declined. I moved on. After 13 years, I can now look back and say… all this stress, the constant worrying of getting let go and the survivors remorse when you stay… was not worth it. Not for a company who couldn’t give a sh-t about their people. You are a number on a spreadsheet to them. Fu-k Oracle all the way. Don’t let them stress you out. Get your severance and go.

As for now, just go and take a sick leave and do not let them get you totally down.
Go to the doctor and talk about your mental health condition. O should be forbidden, it’s a toxic substance draining employees.
You need to take some control and responsibility for your own life. Get an emergency fund, invest in yourself and stop thinking about a job for life.
An employer can give notice to terminate with little notice and you can do the same.
