Thread regarding Optum layoffs

How many cuts before nothing's left

I'm watching team after team get carved up and wondering when this becomes unsustainable. They keep cutting deeper, and everyone left is just expected to absorb the rest. No one's asking if the work still gets done, or who's going to be around to do it. I keep waiting for the breaking point, but maybe we're already there and nobody's willing to say it.

@OP Nothing left? LOL... there are 400k employees... RIF'ing a couple hundred here isn't even a blip. Stop being myopic, this is big business and the truth is zero people mean anything.

@a7 Leave. You’re not forced to be a troll. It’s a layoff site. Not X.

IDK. IBM has been doing this game for decades. Completely different industry, of course, but it seems to be sustainable for a long, long time.

This all has to do with Senator Warren new bill. They are going to try to bust up the big 4 and that means UHG will have to get rid of their vertical integration. No more clinics, no more pharmacy , or pharmacy benefit management company etc. in order to sell these areas they have to cut cut cut waste, finances . So get smart people . The company gonna get rid of you all. They need to get money one way or another. Stop burying your head in the sand. Do some research.

It’s past the point of no return. There are more non doers than doers. It’s over for the company. Years of poor culture has ensured that anyone competent has either left, been laid off for not playing ball or is so burned out they have no motivation to do anything besides quiet quitting because their work isn’t rewarded and instead questioned.

It’s a dumpster fire and the faster you leave the better off you will be.
