Are they legit or just a way to get rid of people without paying them severance? Is there a point in trying to "improve," or not?

@fw nobody gets a PIP and severance. Maybe a 4 but that’s the beginning of the road to a PIP. Nice try calling me a liar tho.
I got PIP'd at another financial institution.
I still got severance and was able to collect unemployment.
If in that situation again, I don't think I would take the PIP because it's just a means to fire you anyway.
Every week I had to have 1:1s with my manager, while she picked me apart and enjoying it, at that.
After two months, I met with the manager and h/r and was told I hadn't improved or met my goal and that would be my last day.
I was busting my hump to work hard and keep my job, but manager had in her head to terminate me anyway.
I would not do a PIP again. I would just cut my losses and move on. Wasn't worth the stress.
@ax lots of people got 4’s and severance. Stop spreading lies
So you mean even a 4 affect severance?
They use PIPs as a way to manage you out without having to pay you. If they give you a PIP or a 4 on your year end review, you might as well just quit, which is what they want. Or, you could hire a lawyer and try to force their hand.
Has anyone got pip without reason? Can they just like that give it? Did anyone came out of it successfully? I don't think it affects severance though
Get rid without having to pay
