Are all remote people on the chopping block now? Just heard of people today being laid off that were made remote from site closures.

They basically want to wait you out so that you want to leave and they dont have to package you out. They put you on the shelf for a few months, give you poor limited direction and hope you figure it out so they dont have too. Also they are pushing AI so much that they will make many other job unnecessary in the future.
Facts….look at IT. You’re just a number and replaceable by someone offshore.
Some of those people were brought into the IHO and with the dissolution of most of the IHO functions if they didn’t find a home in a sector that could be why. In general there’s a move away from it, especially for direct employees.
I still think they’re attempting to sell off what’s left of the company (in whole or part) following the missile spinoff, and they’re looking to run as lean as possible till then. They’ll achieve it through RTO, this unending reorganization, and the general enshittification of everything (see IT).
By the time it happens we’ll be struggling inwardly as our systems will be a mess and everyone who knew how to work them will be inundated or have left. This is definitely “leave while you have a chance” time if you can swing it. Of course that’s what they want but it’s better than being laid off for our poor severance package
