What made Xerox stock rise and fall so fast in 1999?

Historically, highest it has ever been. It really shot up in 1998/99 and then tanked. What happened during this time? Besides the Honolulu stabbings that happened well after stock was falling.

there was Y2K. everyone thought the computers were going down when we hit the new year. people were printing out all the forms and docs they need in case something happened, but there were scandals and investigations going on. who knows wasn't in the business then
