Essentially this is all you are legally obligated to do in a manner of speaking.
It is good in general to tell them if it's a competitive employer or not. This way they decide on the mini sabbatical for you. You still don't have to tell them who it is. But you can tell them it's a competitive employer or not. This is actually a good point and don't forget to do it. This way it saves you time if they just pay you for 2 weeks and walk you out.
If you want to do it the 'normal' way you talk with whoever you report too. They will often ask you to send a letter. If you mention a company / project that can be considered even remotely like a competitor they will likely wrap everything up the same day. If you do not they will likely be able to agree on a week or two notice.
There are some processes that need to be followed generally. It takes an hour or two usually. You will be asked to confirm items you possess / are being returned. A process for return will be given.
So just let your 'boss' now.
Yeah but who knows what this triggers. Send a formal email only after you've done the following:
Interviewed and secured your 1st day with the next employer.
Secured all non confidential documents about your work performance and reviews.
Come up with some excuse to use your remaining PTO either one off days or claim family emergencies. Either way none of their business.
DO NOT work overtime documenting your work. Throttle everything back to below 50 percent. Treat it as a wind down and recharge period.
Schedule your next start date with a few weeks to unwind. Your start date and your next employer are none of their business. Tell no one.
Have vesting equity? Snapshot it and use it as leverage in negotiations with your next employer. It is - after all -part of your compensation and allows you to use a part of those golden handcuffs against them in the way out.
Before you start interviewing try to as--s who on your potential new team may have deep ties with Ford still. This is good to know who might try and sabatoge your move.
@b3 No. But there is a button for a free tube of KY jelly.
You may or may not receive any off boarding email or any communication at all.
Isn't there a letter of resignation button somewhere in Life @ Ford? I guess that's one way.
Keys in the mailbox middle finger in the air.
You mean if you want to resign? Dunno. Anyone, how did you do it?
