Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Pay Raise or Net Decrease?

The scam continues with a 2026 pay raise less than inflation. Inflation caused by Aramco’s buddies to the north. In the last 10 years that leaves only 1, 2024, where Ali and the scammers beat inflation with a decent pay raise. Do yourself a favor if you’re still there and figure how much your salary has decreased when factoring inflation. And for anyone considering moving to the Toxic environment, offered both indoors and outdoors (worst air quality in the world), think about an avg 1-3% annual raise before stepping on the plane to the land of empty quarters…and empty promises.

The PMP rating is factored in, nit performance. There is a big difference between that and performance.

@vc the SAIP payout calculation includes a factor for your performance rating. So yes, it does have to do with your performance.

1.5 months salary for a bonus really isn’t amazing. It’s standard and a lot less than what one would get in a senior role elsewhere. I can speak directly from experience. At a prior employer I would receive 30-50% of my annual base, dependent on company performance. And yes I had to work for this.

The advantage of Aramco SAIP is you do bu---r all and still get a payout. It has zero relationship to your performance. It’s guaranteed. Great for slackers and opportunists.

Perhaps for those coming from third-world or back office jobs who usually get nothing it’s a boon. Most recent jointers fall into this area.

But don’t kid yourselves.

@tr Good! happy for you guys. It's times like these where you earn that SAIP.
Seemed to me that that was how you earned your pay, somewhat by your productivity, creativity and value added but mainly by putting up with the bureaucracy at Aramco and KSA, plus situations like now. Though, I was never really too concerned with similar issues during my time there. Probably just personal makeup or personality.

Don't forget that big old SAIP you are getting. FYI...If you process out between the last paid SAIP and the following Dec 31st you will get squat. Being a fall baby cost me SAIP upon my retirement year. Not sure, maybe they have changed that but doubtful. Was very unfair not to mention illogical. Leaves you with a bad taste.

IMHO...The situation started trending downward for American expats with the retirement of Abdullah Juma in 2008; never to return, natural evolution.

No one is being held there against their will. If you don’t like it- leave. It’s that simple.

You just keep complaining, you’re qualified and don’t like it, just quit. No need for whining all the time. Suggesting that you’re top performer and working extra hours etc etc, I’m sure with your qualifications you can score a better job anywhere. Why are you here? Top of the morning’ to ya

Saudis are jealous because they get paid less means they are not entitled to do any work but ready to take credit for your work, company that is based on unfair principles, where people are paid not based on their skills but based on their nationalities, how can it treat employees fairly.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Aramco is NOT a long term job. Take it only if you are unemployed with no real prospects and assume it won't last beyond two years. Oh, and DO NOT bring your family. The days where you could retire from Aramco as an Expat are LONG GONE.
