Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Reflecting on recent events

Reflecting on the energy sector lately, it’s striking how much the work we do matters ... not just in powering homes and industries, but in doing it thoughtfully and responsibly.
At Chevron, there’s a quiet consistency to how things get done: prioritizing the safety of people and protection of the environment above everything else, building real partnerships that last, valuing the diverse perspectives everyone brings, and always aiming to deliver high performance with integrity at the core. It’s not flashy, but it’s steady and over time, that approach builds something meaningful.
In an industry full of challenges and change, being part of a team guided by those principles feels like a real advantage. It shapes the decisions, the collaborations, and even the small daily choices that add up.

Grateful to be in the middle of it, contributing alongside people who care about getting results the right way.

What about you? what keeps you motivated in this space?

The troll returns. Yawn. No actual knowledge of the company to imply they even work here, ridiculous posts that run completely contrary to popular sentiment within the org., botted downvotes, DEI, etc. Stop letting this troglodyte get you riled up. It's comical at this point.

Protects the environment above all else?

You’re surely having a laugh.

How’s CO2 sequestration going on Gorgon, by the way? I’ve got some great videos of the copious amounts of C02 venting going on that I can share if you like?

How weak our executives are to plant such nonsense in response to real feedback from the employee pool. It’s as if they only want to hear fake good praise, not true feedback. It’s like a cult

The Chevron way is just words that are not supported by the LT at the lower levels. II have wi try led st Chevron over 20 years and I believe in ethical work practices. Unfortunately at the lower levels of LT, they make decisions that only benefit themselves and for some reason the middle management believes them as they push the information upwards.
The days of the “Chevron Way” will evaporate as the work positions are moved overseas.

@OP What keeps me motivated, OP? Well, it sure as he-l isn’t the stinking pile of horse po-p that you just dumped on this forum! All that motivates me now is cold, hard cash and the fact that I only need to deal for a short while longer with imbeciles who spew this nonsense.

Now tell me, sincerely, do you need a hand pulling your head out of MW’s 🫏

For me, The Chevron Way ain't just some corporate slogan on a wall. It's the actual guide I run by every shift. Keeps things straight when the job gets messy. Highest priority is always protecting people and the environment. Period. Then it's about real partnerships with the crews and contractors, pulling from everybody's different experience and know-how, staying locked in on high performance, and doing it all with straight-up integrity and trust. No shortcuts, no BS.

Industry's changing fast, new tech, new regs, new headaches every day. But knowing my work lines up with developing energy the right way, safe, responsible, powering what folks need, keeps me fired up to show up and give it my best. Especially out here in Houston where a lot of that work starts.
