So I was officially RIF ( in EMEA) about 2 weeks ago.
My direct manager; who I used to speak to maybe Three times a week has not even called or messaged. I did speak to him the day before I was RIF, he talked about plans and work related travel 3 months out.. wtf…

@144 I know here in the US the manager absolutely knows who is going to be Riffed. Conversations i have heard before the Rif tell me so. Some managers spill the beans to certain employees that they are tight with.
@144 -
SD only has vague idea who is doing what
As AD, when SD ask me who do I want to keep, who can be let go
I gave SD the answer, It is up to SD whether to put those on the RIF list
@az As a manager, I can tell you that we didn't and don't know.
@an yeah...RIF the folks from a company that's been the top growth story in the industry...sounds like a winning strategy.
@OP I'm sorry to hear, I'm also expecting news soon (also EMEA). which BU / team? if you want to say...
These clowns know nothing, neither did your manager. They're more than likely busy packing their own desk! If it helps, my manager definitely knew nothing when she had to let her employee in EMEA go.
Sorry it happened to you but maybe for the best the way the business is going, good luck out there
Manager always knows and most likely had a say in who is going to be RIF. If they say they didn't then they are lying to your face.
@OP Sorry to break it to you ... but your mgr. knew - probably months ago.
It's very hard to rif someone. Speaking afterward is prolonging the pain and guilt of hurting someone who didn't deserve it.
Rifs are always bad. It means either he didn’t even know, or that he was deliberately misleading you. Either way, best is to move on…..
Rif was bad but up 400k in vz stock
It's common even with people that give notice. Just a call to an ageed time to drop off laptop and phone. At the main door outside of course
