I was on LTD and laid off in the last round. I know other disabled on STD and were part of the last RIF as well

@ap I hope they do use my fmla as a reason to lay me off. Give me my freedom from this place. Take me. I’m ready.

Unfortunately, it's easier for them to justify dissolving YOUR position when you're on short-term disability or exercising your FMLA rights, because your team is already having to adjust to you not being there.

Optum has always let people go who are on leave. It doesn't matter if it is SDT, materinity leave, whatever. They will call you and notify you of the RIF. STD doesn't neither puts you on on a RIF list, or prevents you from being on the list.

I wouldn’t say STD=RIF. But being on STD, FMLA or other leave would not protect someone from layoff if their position was being dissolved.
