Having worked for Amazon Fresh, I’m not surprised to see this happening. When developing this program, basically all decision makers had no retail experience whatsoever. Their systems and operational plans made no sense which, at least during my time led to disastrous numbers. Seems like nothing has improved. So glad I quit.

Nope. Albuquerque. Site sits with outside walls built and other general site prep done but no progress has been made in 8-10 months. Construction has been completely stopped.

They’re talking about Amazon fresh stores in this article. Amazon is not hiring people with grocery retail experience to run these stores and they have a very different way of running departments.

Whole Foods has slowed a bit in opening stores but not completely. I believe all stores scheduled went as planned this year.
