Internal mobility

We are wrapping a big initiative and will be soon in enhancement mode.

And I'm not in same location as my manager and noticed we hired someone from other team who is in same location as bulk of the team.

While I feel this new person has a lot to learn I feel it seems like a tactic to replace.

I know I still have dependency in this team, if I try to switch via internal mobility can my manager stop the move citing dependency???

Suggest you move asap. Seen this tactic before, you absolutely will be replaced. Start networking. If you trust local on site HR (which is a big ask) tell them you are thinking about a change and see what suggestions they have.

your manager can absolutely stop your move. better yet, you won't even get to know it.
