Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Changes Coming to RTO Tracking Tool

The HR IT Team is currently in the process of migrating the RTO Badge Tracking tool from a Tableau report to a full-fledged internal web app.

They are working with Jeff's org CTXO to use Gen AI to do this more rapidly then they'd be capable of doing otherwise.

Once this migration is complete, they will have complete turnstile API access and plan to start showing badge in & badge out times. Currently, managers who have access to the tool can only see whether or not you were in office that day, at home, or took PTO.

These are the facts. My personal speculation, after witnessing how gung-ho this team is about this effort, is that they are going to add a lot more than just time-tracking to the app. I believe that the next thing to go will be the "Half Day PTO" trick that many of us use to have WFH days or manage things like home repairs, doctors appts, etc. Currently, they don't have the access they need from Workday to differentiate between Full Day & Half Day PTO, so they just count it all as In-Office.

I believe that we are in for a very dark year ahead regarding RTO. Leaking this info now so people can plan ahead and stay informed.

This all seems like fake news. We need gen ai for something EMG has had access to via excel for 3 years?

Also, so many legal issues with providing this directly to your first line supervisor.

They will never give managers direct access to exact times of turnstile entrance / exits. There’s so many legal issues with this. It now makes the company liable if there’s a trend of certain employees being forced to work over 40 hours. A manager can’t plead ignorance. There’s also multiple employee privacy and security and safety risks by providing that much access.

At best the time information will be provided to EMG (which they already have access to in their reports).

If we all refuse to comply, will they fire us all? It seems like parents leaving at 2 PM will now have to start at 5 or 6 AM. This is ridiculous.

Maybe we should have unionized when what's his face was trying to get us to.

USAA really needs genai to filter badge-in, badge out times?! AI doesn't always make us work smarter.

Maybe this “invention” will be mentioned in the same lore as remote banking one day!

This RTO follows WF and their RTO policy. They even utilized FINRA's broker-dealer license on remote workers that faked work. -"FINRA’s new verdict went into effect on June 1, ordering broker-dealers to conduct and document a risk assessment and provide the regulator with a list of “residential supervisory locations” on a quarterly basis. Home offices of remote workers are required to be registered and inspected every three years under FINRA’s new pilot program." Which is relevant to remote workers in relevant areas, especially those using hotspots, or faking work, etc. the bank appears to be following suit, maybe? There is a news article on WF/fake work simulation, remote workers.

You can see your turnstile info down to the time in a box folder, anyone can see it…

@aw I can guarantee you your managers have access to the same tool as the ones in San Antonio, whether or not they choose to enforce it in Tampa.

I do think Juan is going to enforce RTO hard this year, and failure to adhere to the RTO requirements will be used towards corrective action, and either getting employees to quit or to terminate them with cause, all this to avoid paying out severance.

This is such a doomer overcharacterization of this project. The existing tableau dashboard is hot garbage. They're making it better. That's it.
