Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Laid off in December. Received email from BNY recruiter about current job openings

I was part of the mass layoffs in December. The other day I received an email from a recruiter about a few contract to hire openings that they felt I’d be a good fit for. They found my resume on one of the job boards that I’m using. I stated that I was part of the mass layoffs and the recruiter stated the were aware and had roles they needed to fill.

It’s sounding like they know they sc--wed themselves and are scrambling to fix it.

What a giant slap in the face.

When you read anything about Jamie Dimon you need to understand that he is just campaigning. So whatever he says and what he does are two different things.

@ak that used to be common practice years ago.

JPM CEO put out an article a week ago about how when cuts are being done, they try to find a different positions to put the person in so they don’t lose their job. Maybe BNY is trying to jump on that train and do something decent and humane.

When I put in my notice last summer, I got a call from a bny recruiter at the dump, asking if I was interested in a position. I laughed and told the recruiter I had put in my notice and working through my notice period
then proceeded to tell the recruiter I would never work for that place again and I blasted them on my exit interview to make sure I could never get hired there again.
I got fooled once before in getting talked in to coming back to that toxic sh-t hole.

Sounds like you were part of a "normal" layoff and not a PIP forced termination.

This pretty much gives you a sense of the current state of affairs across the board - hire people at low pay, load them up with unmanageable volume of work, lay off, rinse & repeat. Run, don’t walk!!!
