The company I work for now gives 3 weeks vacation after a year of service (Full time) 4 weeks after 6 years and 5 weeks after 12 years

At Sears, for Full time it was 2 weeks after a year, 3 after 6, 4 weeks after 15 and 5 weeks after 25 years.

They ended up removing the 5 week entitlement for those that had not reached 25 years yet, so capped at 4 weeks max.

The only good thing was that you could bank vacation up to one and a half times your annual allotment and carry it over.

When I left Sears, I had 6 weeks of banked vacation that they had to pay me for.

Healthcare is also less expensive at the company I work for now compared to what it was at Sears

Went from Appliance Repair Technician to doing industrial maintenance in factories. The switch came with a $15 bump in hourly pay, a $400/week cut in health insurance premiums, and the satisfaction of being treated as a skilled tradesman rather than a trained circus monkey who swaps parts.

Home Services expects journeyman level skill in electrical, plumbing and HVAC, but pays technicians like teenagers stocking store shelves. Driving around all day listening to my music on someone else's gas money was a nice fringe benefit, but not worth it by a long shot.

I took the skills I learned working for Sears and am now working at a second-hand store in my city. I'm really enjoying the professionalism of management at my new job, and the increase in wages has been an added plus as well. I'm told that someday I may even be taught how to run a cash register! Selling more upscale merchandise seems to draw a friendlier customer base too.

@d8 Doesn’t have the intellectual or testicular fortitude to challenge the Fraud of Sears Home Warranty.

You have to forgive our colleague at @d8+1kjxq7rrb. It is true that he does generate profit, but not much of one and it doesn't have anything to do with Transformco's core business. We just capture his farts and sell it to the natural gas company.
