Compensation/bonus, disappointing but unsurprised

Got my compensation letter today. I didn't expect anything great, but a 2% increase is disappointing; it doesn't even cover inflation. And the bonus has dropped so much from previous years, it gives you no motivation to go out of your way and 'exceed expectations' anymore. It seems like it doesn't really matter, since you're at the company's mercy and whatever they decide to give your department.

Definitely looking for a new job, outside the business. In the meantime, just doing my job exactly as specified, no more, no less. Not going out of my way anymore, thats for sure...

Review process is a complete joke. Everyone just gets the 2%. Nobody gives a damn about your goals or KPIs. New managers are trying to follow rules. They make me laugh. No one looks at this, no one cares, just do your day-to-day job. Hopefully you're lucky and you'll get a manager who will try to get your raise eventually.

Typically got 2-3% -- just 1.3% this year and yet still achieved the "met expectations" status. Incentive number was sad. I know that I will never get much again, and I no longer care about that increase percentage or incentive. They made so it doesn't matter, so no longer care about goals and meeting or exceeding anything. It is a weight lifted.

As @az said below, the OA text wall says it all. Read near the end of that tiring mail, and you can see why it is now time to bail. Just do it now - as I will soon, and hopefully we can leave this deflating balloon.

In all my years that I worked for Pearson, not once did I get more than 2%. Got all the praise in the world, said I was invaluable. But never anything more than 2%

Yeah, 'met expectations' and a bit of bonus on a modest salary is the least we can expect to stay a bit motivated at Pearson. If they give us 'partially met' I think we will decide to only partially make some effort to save this sinking ship ....

It is beyond disappointing. I have two reports who have smashed it out of the park and there's no levers to pull anymore. I've offered one of them CV help as I'd rather her be happy somewhere else than suffering here.

The fact that OA in his latest text wall complained about him only getting 'partly met' whilst most of us got met or more... It would be funnier if it didn't feel like he'll make it even harder to give a bonus next year.

Of course you only get 'partly met' OA - you're tanking the company you absolute pisswizard.

@a7 I mean thats what he said hes doing, doing his job and looking for something else in the meantime. Thats what everyone not in upper management at this company should be doing right now.

@a7 I've been hinted that my job probably won't exist in X months, and the best-case scenario would be to be moved into a completely different team, where I may be given a role I won't enjoy, a much larger workload, and an unclear job spec for the same or less pay. Worst case, I get made redundant.

I'll obviously take what they've given me re bonus, but I'm going to be looking out for opportunities. The markets have been bad for some years now, but there are the odd opportunities out and about. Might as well keep options open while in this role. Contemplating some freelance work on the side to get feelers out.

I'm sorry about your situation. I hope you find something soon, their decisions just don't make sense at the moment. They think AI will replace so much manpower, but there are so many nuances and technical implications with AI, it's not the cure all solution they think it is.

I would take what is given (obviously) and hold on to the job. The job market is unprecedentedly bad and unpredictable. Many of us, including me, are not that fortunate. I even offered to lower my salary for a while but I was told that is not an option. They wanted me to just go like I was a dirt to be removed with detailing.
