Old Boys Network

Gen X female here…
The “old boys network” doesn’t refer to us all being se-----y as--ulted or discriminated against.
It was a time where the focus was sports and the athlete and grit.
It was before we offshored everything to folks that know nothing about our company and want to su-k us dry. You get what you pay for.
It was before we had to hire the coddled generations where everyone gets a trophy and is addicted to the slack alt pages and cries over not having a succession plan.
It was where we made money hand over fist.
Not sure we can get back to that with the leaders and employees we have now. Bunch of soft bi--hes. Come at me…..

@OP you're not wrong. I know former female senior leaders who spoke with joy, glee and excitement about smoking cigars, drinking whisk-y and playing golf (I'm being serious, this is not sarcasm). Boys club? Probably, but women weren't necessarily excluded or objectified. Times have changed, all behavior gets put under a microscope, sometimes deservedly so, sometimes not. I came in on the tail end of the stories and the legends and the energy and drive that came with that is sorely missing these days

I’d like to get the gen x’ers out. You all are running the company and look at us now. Trying to point the finger at us? Sure. Probably people are softer today. But obviously your management style isn’t working. It’s probably why the boomers always targeted the millennials because you all were insignificant to the workforce.

As the new “soft” generation would say, git gud.

Ahh, once upon a time we called that america.
Welcome to the last stage of a dying empire, sigh.
It is like watching someone de-----e all over the Mona Lisa.

this is also a good one

the fact the "LT" is rubbing the backs of the crying gen y, gen z and dei groups while simultaneously watching margins decrease, sales decrease and actual good talent (read gen x) walk out the door with absolutely no regard to the consequences, says it all

I like how this posts speaks up for how recent 'what nike used to be', and how well it worked, and if anything, you'd think EH would be clamoring to get back to those roots, that grit, that all so awesome yesteryear swoosh that kicked butt absolutely and squarely, right out of the park.

where is the grit, where is the cohesiveness, isn't that numero uno job number one for the ceo, bring that back!

EH, where is it? the time is now, or it is never, once you go offshore and further ki-l the culture it's the acg fast train to doomsville....wake up and don't woke up!

On the bright side, we’ll soon be the same size as the Nike you remember.

Post from another thread:

The “good old boys” network built Nike into a successful behemoth. Maybe dismantling it in favor of DEI wasn’t such a great idea? Now leadership teams are full of nonstop drama with people who take everything personally. Tiny comments turn into lifelong grudges. Everyone in it only for themselves. Zero accountability. More energy goes into side tension than actual work.

I’d take the good old boys club over this forced dysfunctional diversity any day.
