Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

AI Irony

The Cisco ELT and multiple layers of bloat beneath them are waking up to the fact that the very AI they are so aggressively promoting will completely destroy their lives.

Each and every one of Cisco's business units are being actively replaced by a small startup using a tech stack that costs them less than $5,000. This is reducing margins.

Every white collar office worker that gets laid off is fewer access points, switches, routers and software seats. This is reducing recurring revenue.

Cisco is, in effect, destroying it's own customer base.

Expect the ELT to start aggressively rewarding themselves with stock buybacks, increased executive compensation, reduced benefits to employees and mass layoffs to provide immediate short term boosts to the stock price.

learn to Code! get your DEVNET, leadership are fools to push great engineers down the rabbit hole of trying to code network automation, we all saw AI coming and once you load the commands and it learns, why pay jo bob 200k to write yaml files? Just need low level engineer to glance it over and push the button if it blows up. Great example of people who dont understand how thinks work making mandatory training that is already obsolete or years behind the curve. Here is a crazy idea, how about promoting a senior technical leader to a VP role that actually understands how things work , not you EK , you had your chance and your karate is found lacking.

Who will fix the outage when AI goes crazy like the AWS outage for 10 days.

Hackers are already using Claude and ChatGPT to carry sophisticated attacks.

AI works on existing software. It cannot replace all the engineers, may be 6% by 2030.

@a2 - More smoke and mirrors from yet another "AI Evangelist" - reminds me of the guys that pumped and dumped during the tech bubble.

@OP huh? AI demand for HW is the reason CSCO isn't in the dumps right now with the rest of tech

This would happen anyway, no matter how much cisco will fluff the topic
AI is going to impact directly or indirectly companies across all the industries

Netclaw will replace all CCIE within 6 months.

It is built on Claude, has 32 skills, 15 MCP backends
full ITSM gating (change approval)
Slack-native, full audit trails

No CCIE means no Cisco Value.
Cisco 360 is worthless
