Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Best thing that could have happened

I might be out of a job right now, but being let go from that toxic dump was honestly a gift. The culture was so fake and draining. I'd rather struggle financially than ever go back to that atmosphere.

I found another job a few weeks after RIF that pays better and got my severance to keep for a rainy day. You just need to have positive mindset, the job market is really good if you apply yourself.

Best thing that ever happened to me was to be laid off. My severance was substantial. I am now doing what I love and don’t have to pay back a penny of the 40k in tuition reimbursement I borrowed. Your right black cloud lifted and I’m finally back to myself. Not stressed about the uncertainty. Because beware it’s coming. If you haven’t been cut you will be

I think they expected me to be upset! I got Severance and am happy to be gone from the stress of wondering, every week, when my Dept was next. This site is pretty spot on with info and it helps that everyone is posting truthful information for those left behind so they know when its coming. I literally watched the last layoff happen minute by minute on this blog.

It is the worst company culture, training, and operations/sales contracting I have seen in any large organization. In my short time here I see why business level executives leave twice a year. Once they realize this place is managed like a family owned bar and grill, they leave.

Same! My former manager had the nerve to comment that I didn’t seem
upset enough. Lady I AM RELIEVED!

UHG tends to put a lot of disconnected foreigners as managers. They gravitate toward those who have come from other countries. Like Canadian nurses for managers or directors. it is a pattern with them. These people don’t care 2 cents for Americans as most are still invested in their own countries with them still receiving health care from their universal healthcare. They cannot empathize with Americans and so it’s easy for them to run the employees into the ground. This one manager had the highest burnout score in her team and her solution was to give them some pointers and than blame the burnout on the team. It was hysterical.

They freakin laid me off as I was driving home from my mother’s funeral! And, I told my boss. Her empathy? She read me the layoff script anyway while I was stuck in hours of traffic despite my asking her to speak to me when I returned home. You can’t make this sh-t up and the lady is an ‘Injun.

No empathy, greedy, and cruel. Effect on me? Not a fan of ‘Injun lady doctors.

You all can decide to stay. Or not.

Some negative comments, but I too was laid off and feel like a black cloud has been lifted. And, they did it shortly after I was diagnosed with cancer.
Thankfully, I spend wisely and have no debt. Rough times, but hopeful that I will find a position where I won’t be
embarrassed to say the company’s name.

Excellent! Glad you are happy. Can you please let us know how you are doing when funds run out and family member has illness while being unemployed?

Agree with you. No one cared or had anyone’s back. Scripted, cold as ice layoff. Culture was terrible. Better to be let go than tortured everyday.
