Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Rules For Us But Not For Them

VPs and above are not going into the office while others are forced to go in 5x a week. These “leaders” have excuses like they’re at an offsite or their car keeps breaking down. There is even a VP who takes a flight from Florida each week to go into the NY office but does not go in every day. Meanwhile its been sparse at the office with anyone below VP level and people come in for just a few hours. There’s even some talk between senior leaders about only coming in some days. Some teams go in everyday while others on different floors don’t seem to be going in at all. There’s no work, people scrolling on their phones all day, and people on the same floor slacking each other because they don’t want to walk to their meetings. And looks like they’re still hiring remote positions.

This place is a sh-t show, pays like sh-t, and we get treated like sh-t. Meanwhile “leadership” gets paid more than 6 figures, have people cook and clean for them, people to take care of their kids, while we have to slave away in traffic and do nothing at the office. DE said RTO was so successful, but what is even the measurement? The guy talks out of his a-s and the so-called “leadership” covers for each other but not for the people who are actually doing whatever work there is.

Make it make sense!

@115 So apparently all the best engineers had better live a commutable distance to NY and LA!

De (on analyst call) just said he’s gonna hire 10x the number of engineers so sounds like he hates what he has and doesn’t care about the other departments outside of theatrical

@10q I think you’re right. Especially with the potential for the apps to merge. Streaming is going to be obliterated on all sides

I think I know the VP (think he's an SVP) from Florida because that's what my SVP does. Total snake oil salesman. It's crazy that DD gave some of these people so much control, especially since they're remote on top of being lazy. The way he re-orged streaming is that he's either going to make DE look like an id--t by not being able to force people to RTO or he's going to wipe out entire teams (likely to outsource work). There's very little in between.

If it’s been stated you go into the office 5 days/week, I suggest you do so. They have been collecting data on your VPN logins since Jan 5 of this year. They know who is adhering to rules and who isn’t and there’s teams that are responsible for collecting, reporting, and deciding what to do with this data. Even if you don’t want to work for the company anymore, seems like it would be a shame to get fired for not adhering to a stated rule rather than getting laid off with severance. I’m trying to stick around long enough to get severance with the next round of layoffs as a result of the WB deal. Good luck everyone ❤️

Yes if you want certain perks you need go higher in the company. That’s how life works. Until then put your big boy pants on and go to work.

Some coordinators and managers are also wfh. In my team, no one has attended to the office 5 times a week.

It doesn't look like they enforce this
At least not my team. Some team members (senior manager and below) in my org have been allowed to work remotely AND some of them are out of state.
