D&S is worthless. They don’t do any planning for your career. You are lucky if they even know your name these days.

D&S is framed as providing "transparency". You'll be able to see classification differences across peers doing similar work. This kind of visibility will expose disparities and be deeply demotivating, especially when someone discovers a colleague in an equivalent role has a higher classification. The linkage to CL is not direct, but the correlation is hard to ignore. Imagine the stark reality in Finance where many will learn that after 5+ years in the same 'capability' they are labeled - wait for it - associate!! Meanwhile, new hires will be cycled through multiple capabilities in the first 5 years, fast-tracking their development towards advanced roles. The clear message is you are far behind and are unlikely to be competitive in the long run. This isn't transparency that empowers... it's selective transparency that feels like another nudge for people to self-select out.

@dd D&S are not responsible for career planning every employees career. That would literally be hundreds of careers to plan per D&S advisor. Supervisors and N+1 are responsible for helping employees plan their careers.
@cj Talk to your supervisor. That is the default line. Once you notice it you will be surprised how it is the answer for everything !
Yes, yes they are worthless. Unless you are a hipo. Then it is white glove service.
Career planning is not a part of the R&R. Talk to your supervisor about career planning
D&S have been f’d by HR big time. The new D&S changes will make 95% of the workforce demotivated and stuck in the same ‘capability’ ie job forever. It will only help the HiPos. Remember brother Darren say how the process worked for him so he likes it. It’s going back to the way it was in Chemicals and a councils looking after their own. Upstream is sc--wed.
