Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Forced ranking

I wont say much apart from this one thing “do you not know mike that your mc’s force people down to needs improvement when they really are not bad performers”

Because of my rating I am feeling sui-idal. My manager even said that they were forced to and that nothing is wrong. So Mike do you not know that this messes with peoples lives. Do you not fu--ing know.

This was 5-6 years ago, but I remember our head of HR Tony M. stating that Fiserv had no forced ratings. 2-3 months later when I was working on ratings I was forced to down rate an employee or two. My VP at the time was not flexible. To me it seemed more like something our SVP (OFD) was doing. I even mentioned what Tony had said, didn't help.

At my current company we did our calibration meeting with our SVP, VP and HR this year. At Fiserv, managers and directors were not allowed in the calibration meetings, it was only VP and up at the time. The only rating I was asked to change was to increase the rating for one of my employees. None were knocked down.

I’m sorry you feel this way. Please try EAP.

Please put your energy into finding a time elsewhere while you still have this job. If it’s genuine then find out what to do but this is Fiserv and they simply don’t care. If it’s not genuine then you can fight it with a lawyer. Did your manager ever catch up? Did they document anything? Shared examples? The power may lie with you but please don’t give up. When one door closes another opens.

I’m sorry to hear this. Director here. Forced rankings are true but nobody gets need improvement if everyone gets 3% in your organization. Someone got a 4% raise and you just got f’ed

Also, not to sound harsh but if you’re feeling sui-idal I would recommend seeing a therapist and maybe getting on an antidepressant that helps those thoughts. I’ve been here. Fiserv will pay for six therapy sessions. It bought me enough time until I found one I could see long term.

You get time to be prepared to walk out the door. You can clean out your cubicle and get important documents together. You can also warn other members of your team that you expect to not be around for long. This will make the mystery of why you aren't responding to messages easier to solve.

@c0 No HR person speaks or writes in this way. I'm calling BS on your statement. I work in HR at Truist and worked at First Data and Fiserv. No one in HR tells managers to do what you are suggesting. CUT THE CR-P.

@c0 people will take it personally because it’s about their incomes

This place is not worth the mental toll it is taking on you, please look out for yourself and get some help. Use the resources Fiserv offers for your mental health until you can leave and find a better fit. Hang in there.

As someone who works in HR for Fiserv, I can confirm that certain managers are told that a specific number of people on their team need to get “needs improvement”. So don’t take it personally. But you do need to start looking for another job.

Do what I do, go in every day and make the numbers up. No one checks, no one even knows how to check, just make things up and push it off as solid data. it'll eventually be caught and I'll be fired but when they realize how many numbers are faked and how long I've been doing this. PURE GOLD.

Please reach out for help, text 988 to talk to someone or talk to a friend or family member. You matter - your value and worth aren’t defined by your perf review. You deserve to find a place where you can be mentored and supported. I know it must feel really heavy right now, to not feel good enough or like this wont get better. It would make me really sad and demotivated too. Thank you for telling us - please tell someone you trust. Praying for you tonight.

Your value and worth is not determined by Fiserv. It is a job. Not a career. Go to a real corporation that values their associates. Especially if early or mid-career.

fiserv has been doing this since first data. also re-orging people in a way that they can cut entire teams and claim function elimination. requires way less HR paperwork

Please send a written complaint to mike. You will be fired by 9 March. My sources told me this. So please write a complaint on this process so at least you get some money. You will be okay and get something much better but don’t feel like this.

I’m really sorry but please don’t worry. Fiserv doesn’t define you. It’s a stamp on your cv than anything else. Please don’t worry you will be okay.
