When will we know whether our zip code has to come into the office?

@13q maam, your leader found out the zip codes Tuesday. The rest of us will officially learn them Thursday.

@13q I heard tomorrow we might know more. It's almost March and we have little info. We deserve better

So are the new lists published or not? I have heard rumbles about it being available, but haven't heard jack squat from my 'leader'.

@y1 I don't think they want the best and brightest. They want the cheapest and most easily disposed.

@y1 It's like we are moving backwards in time or something while being gaslit into thinking all the remote work progress was "bad". I'm sure the dress code will also back to what it was pre covid.

@qk I 1000% expect EDJ to make HBA roles outside of zip code list to move back or leave by 2028. Competitors have done it, we are right behind them. As well as medically HBA for anything mental health related - they are boosting and pushing all the mental health apps and resources now to justify taking HBA away because they don’t HAVE to allow you to be remote. They do have to allow in office accommodations.

@qw I just don't understand the logic of companies like wells and soon to be us. "Hey, let's treat our workers like sh+t, have a culture of fear & obedience, and we can expect to get the best and brightest to come on board!" Mo--ns.

@qk Very likely. This place is just doing all the sh1+ that Wells Fargo did about few years ago.

@qk that was my thought too. I was reimagined, applied for a new position before final termination day last fall, had gone through two rounds of interviews, but then was told by HR that they're suddenly no longer allowed to consider people not in St. Louis or Tempe even though it was originally available as a remote work from home position for laid off associates. This coincided exactly with the 4-day a week in office announcement.

I wouldn't be surprised if they force everyone to be in St. Louis or Tempe one day.

@j2 Im starting to wonder if the next step a year from now will be to force all distanced WAH to either move to STL or Tempe. If all we care about now is reducing head count and labor costs, then nothing is off the table for these a--hats

If your zip code was on the 2023 list, you should assume it will appear again. If you're one or two zip codes away, it’s reasonable to expect expansion in those areas as well.

This initiative doesn’t appear designed to improve operations. It looks more like a strategy to encourage voluntary departures. The more people who choose to leave on their own, the fewer formal layoffs the firm may need to make later in the year.

It’s a straightforward incentive structure.

I don't know if this helps much, but I heard recently they are still going by zipcodes and are measuring to the center point of an area/city. I don't know how they measured it before, possibly to the furthest point. I still don't know the parameters of what X number of miles that means. There's a couple places that come to mind that they may add to the list.

@ag there wouldn’t have even been much substance to an email right now. “We’ve evaluated our commutable distance and expect some associates to be HBA eligible. We will communicate more details when we have them.”

I can’t imagine any ROI from pulling all HQ leaders off for an hour for that.

Not sure. Email comes out next week though. How many went in person? Could have been an email.
