Why are the six Sabre offices closed tomorrow (Thursday and Friday)?

@cv no you had better have not been WFH on Monday Tuesday or Wednesday otherwise you will be on the list for layoff on Friday.
@dx Yep… that’s exactly how it goes. For the person who is the recipient of the news it is a very surreal experience. My wife sat off to the side to hear mine because I knew I’d forget whatever was being said. That was 2023. I see nothing has changed. They have it down to a science. Disgraceful.
My friend got a teams invite from the manager yesterday with a vague title. HR wasn’t on the invite. Then the manager read from a script and HR joined - also read from a script. And that was it - access was immediately cut off. No “effective” at EOD.
To stop kitchen rumors, discussions, and speculation about layoffs, emotions will settle down after two to three days.
@b4 If it was like 2023 you get a meeting request for Teams within a short window with no subject or one that makes no sense. You will be informed over Teams video by a manager or director reading a script. That’s how it happened to me. A director I didn’t even know in KRK. They don’t take any substantive questions. They really know nothing.
Chances are they don’t know if they will be getting a similar meeting themselves once they lay off the underlings. It is a disgusting exercise.
Because they don’t like facing tough situations or questions…
@b4 it should be relayed verbally or via email
How will you be notified (if laid off) if office closed Thursday and Friday?
do you know which teams will be laid off ?
To better control the process and maintain security. It allows managers and HR to conduct one-on-one conversations in a structured, private setting while minimizing emotional scenes or conflicts. Closing the office also simplifies logistics and protects confidentiality during a sensitive process that requires coordination with HR and legal teams. And, remote work gives remaining employees space to process the situation and manage morale.
Some people who have witnessed layoffs admit that it was a distressing experience. Those being laid off would likely prefer a degree of privacy as well, since people can react very differently in such situations.
Because of layoffs
@OP Because they are laying off people and do not trust weak, inexperienced managers to notify their team members in person.
