Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

"Moving Forward Together"

Did the email move you at all? 🤔 It felt hollow to me. If they could have gotten rid of all of us at once they would have. I feel more like we are on a subway train...yeah, all of us are moving "forward", but we all have "stops" ahead where we must get off....Oh well, whatever.

@ma maybe you will get laid off soon and you too can kick rocks. Nice to see you have some empathy for your fallen colleagues.

@m8 Just check your corporate email. Or, if you don’t work at T. Rowe - kick rocks. The email wasn’t for you anyway.

Can someone post the email here?

@je I know they seemed very unhappy when someone else posted an email here, so I don't want to upset TPB. But, it was about moving together amid change and challenge kind of stuff. Outside of my own team, it is getting to the point I don't know anyone here anymore between terminations and retirements. That alone is isolating as I feel connected to less and less people here, so hard to feel "together".

What was the email?

@dy it’s just like Trump. “I’ll release the best, most beautiful plan for health care in this country…in 2 weeks.”

The plan is a second patch on the Orioles jerseys. Maybe that will get some inflows.

The "plan" is "AI". "Accenture India" taking everyone's jobs.

The plan is creating a new strategy the same sh-t they have been saying every year since Sharps took over. How’s that stock price???

@e1 " the message is please stay engaged and work really hard for us. But we’re still going to lay you off and continue curating a toxic culture." NAILED IT!

@dj Wow, someone actually submitted a question alluding to the lackluster performance of our "partners". I never even saw the question in Meeting Pulse. It was a word salad answer to the effect of they are monitoring and things are improving. 🤡 I am old enough to remember when you wanted to get a job you had to bring something to the table. Most of us were never given endless training/sc--w up periods to grasp what we were hired to do. I actually had to prove knowledge in the interviews, as I am sure many here did as well. But hey, they are doing "better" now...unfortunately a bunch of new partners are losing their exiting T Rowe worker "training wheels" after next week, so am expecting more shts to hit more fans. Depressing.

@dw I thought they made it very clear that they'll be releasing more details on the plan that definitely exists shortly, just like they said in July.

We keep hearing, “Don’t worry, there’s a plan,” but never actually learn what that plan is. Just feels like we’re in a constant state of uncertainty, especially when layoffs keep happening and we then receive emails about "standing together". If these messages are meant to reassure us, they truly aren’t having that effect.

@dg expecting more of a word salad and appluading each other around how RR has modernized tech with a continued emphasis on distinguishing data from technology when any tech person worth their salt knows that they should not be separate. Causing friction on an everyday basis. Someone needs to remind them that we are in 2026 not 1996.

anyone nervous about the townhall today with Sharps and RR? Or are we just prepared to hear more word salad...

@ac what was helpful about the email?

Talked about the email with several people in the office today and we all felt the same. It did nothing to ease the doubts everyone has.

The TLDR is “we swear to god we have a plan” which of course I read as “please don’t ask questions, only people without a plan say things like this”

More condescending vague-isms. Makes it seem like there is zero plan in reality, and if this was somehow meant to boost the terrible vibes at the company, it’s just doing the opposite, not least because it seems like a half-assed gesture. Maybe if they tried to promote some team building outings, volunteer days, fun days, etc. it might at least make it seem like anyone cares. Even the property management company at Pratt used to do more morale boosting activities than we have now at HQ.

@ah The company has only moved backwards since this fool became CEO 4 years ago. I have worked at many other places too and realize layoffs happen. This CEO and his posse just make one bad decision after another. The downfall of the stock price over the last 4 years speaks for itself. The company was once a great place to work. His email today is called bullsh-t.

@ae I am not. I imagine that I just haven't reached the scale of misery where I can't find any bright spots in life and work. I've been at multiple other firms and have experienced many of these happening in corporate orgs. Doesn't seem like you have the mindset or desire to move the firm forward. Why stay?

I actually found the email helpful. As someone that doesn't have much access to senior leaders, seeing the acknowledgement was nice for me.
