Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

@pg Yeah at least sales have the remote possibility of earning a little extra in commission. I work in support and recently convinced a customer that they needed around $50k in new equipment to keep pace with their growing needs and prevent the performance issues that they were having from coming back. Only thing I got from Dell was a reprimand from my manager for taking too long to resolve the support ticket.

Don't forget the company doesn't even need to hit 100% of the target to be in huge growth. So surely if the target number incorporates growth, why would the seller be penalised against their SCP, if their net result was enough to drive growth?

That sort of growth is unsustainable for all but a small amount of large accounts, mainly the ones causing all the part shortages and so implementing something like this during a global part shortage for everyone, is a cruel thing to do, especially when you come out of yet another record year.

It's also a fu--ing mess. If sellers don't hit 60% they get paid nothing from their Compensation... why wouldn't they sandbag til next quarter then? And if their target was 10mil for example, and they hit 5.9 million, they have still made the company 5.9 million for no commission. But as prices rise, they would be into demods to win, they get penalised there too. So they get paid nothing, and anything they do get is demodified so far, their target may as well be double.

Oh no please, can I stay here. Anyone with any talent and any sense is going to leave FACT

@OP Need a comp plan for engineering and product developmen employees that ties on-time delivery and quality products with pay and bonus.

There wouldn't be a single engineer or product dolt left. They've never delivered anything on time that works worth sh-t.

Ultimately it’s arbitrary because it depends on the quota. Not uncommon to carry additional quota from the region that isn’t actually derived from historical data on your patch. Management has discussed this openly as ways to push people out.

I mean... that's how it should be? Why on earth should someone get paid for failing lol? The quota isn't even hard to hit either.
