Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Is there any employee rules that state Boeing employees that have company provided laptops must be logged on during work hours?

I can’t find any specific Boeing rules stating that. I’m asking because I have not logged on my computer during my shift for months now except for about five minutes before my shift ends to input my work hours. Our manager has been out for months on LOA for family reasons. If HR contacts me, I’m really not sure how they can due to my not reading or responding to any emails sent to me. If HR gets lucky getting a hold of me, I’m going to tell them there is no specific employee rules stating that I must be logged in my computer during my work hours. The Code of Conduct we are required to sign does not specifically state employees with company provided computers must be logged in throughout their working shift. So I believe I’m safe and not going to worry about it.

The Code of Conduct Boeing needs to live by. It may save some peoples lives in the future. Wink. Wink.

Yes! The Code only applies to us minions. I have seen many superiors break every rule in the book. That same bonehead boss is the first one to use it against everyone else.

code of conduct is a joke at Boeing.
Do what you want until the company folds.

Makes a valid point bringing up the Boeing Code of Conduct employees are forced to sign. Boeing states employees must abide by the code of conduct, so it's a complete set of rules Boeing employees must follow. The code of conduct does not state employees must be logged into their computers while on the clock. So if you don't want to be on your computer, you shouldn't have to be. The code of conduct also does not state employee's are required to communicate with HR if they don't want to. So you should be safe refusing to talk to HR and even your Boeing manager if you don't want to talk to them either. You could print out the code of conduct you signed and pin it to your partition or tape it to your desk. If HR comes calling, you should point to the code of conduct and tell HR to show you where in the code of conduct states a rule that you need to be logged on a computer while at work.
