@b9 he also really fubar'd the A/V equipment. Made a big switch to Logitech that was basically obsolete and useless on our network/security. Then had to go back to Cisco.

Directors haven't had any actual authority for years. They pass on messages from the top. If they refuse to do so, they are fired and replaced with someone that will. It's as simple as that. The OC has power, maybe a little trickles down to OC+1. Everyone else is a worker bee regardless of title or tenure. Authority is extremely centralized.

@ar no offense but Tech at WF is terrible. I’m sure it’s the red tape. WF is so far behind the times. Which makes the efficiency cuts due to AI laughable. They take every tech they have. Use the minimum viable product and think they are advanced.

@ar
I'd opine that the mid-level directors are the problem. Not only are they filtering information northward (to make themselves look better) but they are also distorting the directives coming down from the executives. They don't push back on anything, so the engineering technical staff are flopped like dishrags on projects that start, stop, start again, oops cancelled, wait new vendor, back on again....etc. I can imagine that folks just start focusing on short term deliverables (like 2 week agile targets) and quit thinking longer term and CERTAINLY not taking any kind of risks to better the bank.
And, you can lay this all at the feet of the mid-level directors. Every time.

@a5 yes they do. There has been so much waste in technology over the past few years. But nobody gets held accountable for it. Then they lay off good employees because they can't afford to keep them anymore. I want to blame executive leadership but honestly the mid-level directors are feeding them BS and lies to save their own face too.

Any direct reports of MM affected? I bet they keep them intact all the time. SHAME!

Yes! Ever since Brady was shown the door, they can start with the next layers. Exec directors. They keep padding their layers to get themselves promotions. Its really strange how the engineers keep getting cut, but the director level? Since when? LOL that's just nutz. What value do they bring????

OC+3. Directors

What do you consider executive level? I would only consider OC+1, not whether or not they are an executive director as their corporate title.
