Thread regarding Five9 Inc. layoffs

focus on products

CPO seems to just share LinkedIn articles on how AI is coming for our jobs instead of setting any actual strategy. This whole company is a mess.

@gs ego is at it’s pinnacle for these engineering leaders. They neither listen nor have a good plan. Current readership consisting of X Cisco mafia ruined everything for five9 and five9ers

"Building your own CCaaS and IVA". For what handling 1 call per day? Try scaling Claude to thousands or hundreds of thousands of calls

Writing is on the wall anyway, if you're working at this place you might as well pay up for Claude or OpenAI and build an IVA platform yourself then sell it and make your own money. Nothing is stopping Five9's existing customers from building their own CCaaS or IVA right now. Wonder if leadership team are aware of this

Well, not to mention that the folks who led IVA are gone, the main ‘AI’ pm for agent assist is gone, the PM leader responsible for outbound/digital is gone, and the new guy that was calling out all the broken/inefficient stuff never had a chance after Callan was removed. I almost don’t even consider us having a fully functioning product org at this time at all. The new YES men can stay in good standing without delivering anything. Amit needs to clean house

@a6 public cloud dependency has increased over the years with every new software now can only work on GCP, that profit margins are very low. Product and engineering leadership is so busy playing politics that there is no notable features including AI functionality that stands out in the market. Stock can only go down from here sadly

@a6 Yes which is really wild to see because it's back to 2017 levels where the company was making less money and didn't have the product line up it has now. Market basically discounting all of the progress and acquisitions so far to be duds
