Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

September marks 10 Year anniversary of dell buying EMC. Heard potentially exciting news/Rumor

i Heard through the grapevine that September marks the 10-year anniversary of dell buying EMC, where there was a clause that stated " Dell must retain EMC legacy Server ORG for 10 years" In september the rumor is NVIDIA will buy out all of ISG ORG and dell will go back to just selling PC/Laptops >>>>ONE DELL WAY??

@pw that's laughable. Mikey D would spend 65B on a company that was worth more than Dell itself. Yea, that makes sense. Id10T

One reason for the purchase of EMC was to take advantage of high margin storage. Was this true back then ? Is it true now?

10 Year Anniversary, purchasing the most bloated, inefficient, non innovative company in the world. Things have been spiraling down since this date, not surprised, junk storage products, 10-15 layers of process to get a simple part shipped out with 5-10 systems to check & validate a part number revision. Dell was a much more nimble company pre EMC.

@fr Have you any idea that none of ISG's products work, except the outdated and dying legacy products from EMC that are no longer even supported? ISG su-ks sh-t.

i hope this is not the case. my heart belongs to ISG (primarily legacy Dell) even if I am not part of it. i cannot understand why dell would be going backwards. Patrick Mooney might have to actually do something if this happens.

Why would Dell sell the more profitable part of the company?

Ain't gonna happen.

Dell could do a Computer Associates thing with lEMC and just milk the legacy business, repeat business for 10 more years at a good profit margin, with minimal upgrades and features enhancements.
But they won't - they'll a cut more sales reps, presales engineers from the lEMC side where they are clearly overstaffed, and move back to the 4 sales model (inside tech, inside sales, field rep, field engineer).

This is flat out B.S. rumor mill! There is no way on planet Earth Nvidia would want anything to do with buying ISG, unless Dell gives it away.

ISG hasn't delivered sh-t in 10 years. The only thing ISG has done is milk old legacy EMC products without improving or continuing to advance their codebase. DD is the same today as it was when Dell acquired EMC - No real improvements, no advancements, nothing revolutionary.

If you believe this rumor, you're d-mb as a rock.
