Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Where are people finding remote jobs?

I see many saying they quit for a better paying remote job, and I have to ask, where? Trust me, I've been looking and coming up with nothing. Both seem pretty unbelievable with the current job market.

Finding remote jobs are like finding unicorns. Unless you are in IT, engineering or a programmer, forget it. Heck, even those people are struggling. We are competing with the rest of the world, and the rest of the world will settle for lower pay. Why would a remote job hire an American who earns USD when they can hire Raj Patel for 20 bucks a month.

"Was just notified starting March 1st 5 days in the office. Just know if you find a remote job it may not remain in the long term."

Most companies are migrating towards the industry standard of FTO.

I have two decades' experience, put in about 1500 applications over 3 months, finally got a decent remote year long contract. The only full time roles that showed any interest were companies that obviously didn't have their sh*t together. It's really really rough out there and almost no chance of landing a good remote role at present. I got lucky.

My previous contract was with AT&T, under a ridiculous manager. 6 months after I left he looked for a replacement, and dropped the pay for it quite significantly. He's also looking for people onsite in Dallas or Plano rather than remote this time. Good luck with that!

Found a job that was 100% remote, 6 months later 1 day a week in the office, another 6 months later 3 days a week in the office, was just notified starting March 1st 5 days in the office. Just know if you find a remote job it may not remain in the long term,

If you have good qualifications then you can find that everywhere. However, if you are just …, then you stay with AT&T

Verizon, T mobile, etc…. Most places are at least hybrid if not still fully remote. Very few are 5x in office.

Check Fieldnation.com. They offer lots of technical and simple jobs you bid on. Most are 1099. My SIL was working on p/u lockers at HD, ATM’s etc. also got paid $350 just to put up new store posters in windows. Not bad for 3 hrs work! I know it’s not remote but there may be remote jobs available. Seems like a good job for former outdoor techs or COT’s. My ex did that he worked 37 years for AT&T.
