Got a text from my former manager saying that my laptop has not been returned. My last day was 12/19/2025. I also received an empty box with a paid UPS shipping label that day. I then put my laptop in there and dropped off the package at UPS right before Christmas. I still keep the receipt with a tracking number on it. Just checked it on UPS website and it says the package has been delivered before the new year. Very strange. I almost thought that text was a scam.

So apparently, I learned that the team who processes the returned laptops have been laid off. That’s why you’re receiving these messages about non-returns, even though you did it. There’s a huge backlog of equipment that needs to be reviewed and no one to do it. Completely ridiculous. This company is a sh-t show.
That was a problem before the rifs. We've sent machines back last year and keep getting hounded they're not returned. And most likely a new clueless person is now in charge of that system, has no clue and cleared everything out to make it look like they did something or have nothing going on. The system is so stupid that we have to replace 6 machines for one guy because he was the last to validate them and left. IT and managers said that shouldn't happen, well it did and we can't use those machines now. Super productive! Bunch of clowns. I'd delete it and report it as spam. Enjoy you're new life!
They have the prepaid label number somewhere in their records. Let them deal with it. Not your concern.
Unless you plan on hosting a dinner and inviting your former manager that text you, let them worry about the laptop.
@a9 this is true. They are so backed up they do not have time to open boxes to process returns and yet the auto emails go out saying not received.
@OP I’m trying to request a box and shipping labels for my laptop and phone. I keep getting an error message on my Verizon computer. It’s infuriating! I may end up going into the office on my last day just to return this junk.
I still have it. They only mailed return boxes for the monitors. Also, the packaging inserts specifically stated not to return the laptop with the monitors. Verizon...
I tossed mine into the Tallahatchee River, right next to Billy Joe McCallister.
I still have mine.
I sold mine on ebay
once that tracking shows you dropped it off you are done. not your problem
I still have mine and my phone. I will send it back whenever I feel like it. My boss and previous boss got let go, so obviously, they don't care.
Good thing you have the receipt at UPS store with the tracking number. That laptop is probably too old anyhow.
@OP I received the same thing. I sent my Mgr a picture of the UPS shipping label which he then forwarded to the person who sent him the email.
