Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

We really like having others operate for us

What does DW have against employees operating assets? Are employees really that bad? Seems like they can’t give up operating assets fast enough.

  • Guyana operated by not us
  • Mozambique will be the same
  • why not apply the same model to PNG?
  • why not apply the same model to Permian?

Race to the bottom. Outsource your expensive employee work to cheaper contractors. But eventually it imploded when none of us can afford to by the products we make.

@bx it also helps that Guyana deal allows for such rapid cost recovery so no expense is spared in Guyana

Since EM people took over XTO, they become incompetent about technical matters. Engineers with the only ability in Excel and Powerpoint.

XOM staff are known for analysis paralysis…The vendors are actually far more knowledgeable and efficient compared to staff.

@bx to add context the longer shut downs with costly deferment were attributed to XOM engineering staff requesting support from Texas. Vendor had resolution but, the XOM company man awaited clarity that took 2 days. SVP asked FPSO tech leads their recommendation and he agreed. RTP after 6 hours.. More XOM boots on the ground more deferments

Guyana staffing proved that minimum Exxon staff actually needed. 3-7 per FPSO maximum. Contractors, Vendors performing flawlessly

PNG —> Santos
Plus Santos operates with far fewer expats, especially the “extra” expats
