Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

We've turned into Walmart

Giant Eagle used to care about its people. Now we’re at the point where employees are treated no better than they are at Walmart. It’s genuinely sad to see how far this workplace has fallen when it comes to its workers. This leadership should be ashamed.

@1b7 they are happy when people leave quickly. And most new hires do. Less than 1 year in.. a team member gets no "real" benefits. Constant churn means less benefit expense for the company.

Someone mentioned they treat team members like prisoners. Constantly watching, spying around, and imposing unnecessary rules and regulations which don't do a thing when it comes to actual work performance and profit. I agree 100%. Too many store chiefs following each other around, doing nothing trying to improve metrics using the wrong methodologies.

they seem to do layoffs every quarter, but they never actually hire anyone. How is that a business plan for expansion and success?

Giant Eagle has never and will never care about its employees. The company was built on poor wages.
